Running Pine Cottage B&B in Pinelands helps me to stretch and explore my entrepreneurial side, but as any small business owner knows, we function better and are more productive by taking 
regular breaks.
This last school holiday, my family and I loaded our off road motor bikes onto the trailer and headed for a weeks break to Boschenbach, a nature reserve in the hills outside Clanwilliam.
There we had the opportunity to explore the territory with our bikes. Perhaps the best experience was meeting Tiny, an 8 week old male lion cub, born on the reserve and being hand reared by Andre and his family.
When we first arrived at the reserve Tiny had been away from his mother only a few short days, and was far from comfortable with human companionship, but within a few days he was enjoying love and attention, and in fact seeking it.
Tiny has developed a loving bond with Shané, the youngest member of the family, and shows André, the proprietor, the respect that a cub would normally show the head lion.
